Dedee is a lovely light deadgrass (yellow) Chesapeake from Jan Holshevnikoff’s Chesany Kennel in Idaho. Jan brought her down to me on one of her trips to California a couple of years ago and gave her to me on a co-ownership because I was feeling sorry for myself that my own deadgrass bitch Sara simply would not produce any deadgrass pups for me and Jan gets lots of them, so along came Dedee to join Sandy Oak.

She is a attractive bitch with a wonderful temperament and attitude and exquisite pedigree going back to many of the somewhat present day dual field champions in the breed that Jan had come in contact with while living in Idaho. Dedee also goes back to my Rusty through her father’s sire, Ch. Meadowoods Quiet Riot NA NAJ CGC.

Dedee is only just just three, but we are hoping for a successful future for her at Sandy Oak. I’ve shown her a little in conformation where she has won her classes, and will continue to show her more until we finish her championship. We’ve had her hips and elbow x-rays done and submitted to OFA (Orthopedic Foundation of Animals) for certification and everything came back clear with an Excellent rating on her hips. We still need to get eyes done with Optigen but she is CERF cleared at this time and OFA certified DM clear now as well. You can follow the link at the top of this page to verify on the OFA website.

Dedee was recently bred to Ch. Crackshot’s Ben There Done That*** (http://www.chessieinfo.net/cgi-bin/pp_pedigree.pl?id=11232&gens=5), an incredibly talented field dog with an exemplary personality who has just sired two spectacular litters out of our Lacey, aka Sandy Oak’s Ring of Fire. It is another outstanding litter with pups going into pet and hunting homes and Jan, the co-breeder, took a lovely little deadgrass pup who she is just thrilled with....pup is easy to train and retrieving anything in sight. We’ll keep you posted on this litter and hopefully the new owners will send in pics of their pups to post on our website.

Watch for news of Dedee and more photos on our website as she climbs her ladder of success.
