CHESAGROVE STARRY KNIGHT AT SANDY OAK - “Robbie”

(Ch. Gunrock Raider At Chesagrove OFA Hips/Elbows/DM Clear x Chesagrove’s Lady Baltimore OFA Hips/Elbows/DM Clear/CERF)
Born: 6/17/2012

In 2011, I noticed a litter advertised on the east coast sired by Ch. Gunrock Raider At Chesagrove. I knew that Raider’s father was none other than my Rusty, aka Am* & BIS/BBE Int* Ch. Sandy Oak’s Rainbow Rider UD JH NA NAJ WD CGC ROMQ, and Raider’s dam was Ch. Sandy Oak Duck Duck Goose JH WDX (“Molly”) who was an outstanding hunting dog and companion for her people and also a grand-daughter of my Ch. Sandy’s Hi-Ho Shooting Star UD JH WDX ROM. In short, Raider, Robbie’s dad, is pure Sandy Oak breeding. Raider was purchased by Shirl Fischer of Chesagrove Kennels in Florida as a pup from my friends’ Mike and Shellee Martin who bred their Molly to my Rusty. And I was already considering that I might be about to lose the ability to continue my Star line because of the possibility of having to spay my Annie for health reasons!

What I didn’t realize until I saw the litter advertised last year was that Shirl still had Raider, so I contacted her right away to find out more. Shirl told me that she was going to breed her 11 year old Raider one more time to her Lady who produced a lovely litter by Raider a couple of years ago. So I basically reserved the rights to a pup right then and there! On June 17th, 2012, Lady whelped an outstanding litter of 6 girls and 4 boys. After going back and forth with pics and discussions with Shirl, I decided on a boy and on the puppy that is now Robbie and Shirl flew him out to me from Florida the day he turned 8 weeks old.

I am thrilled with this young dog! He has a wonderful outgoing and very loving personality, is a determined retriever, is a quick learner, interacts well with all my other dogs, has gorgeous conformation and movement...and he came out of his crate a happy puppy to greet me after a 7 hour flight from the east coast!! Robbie and I seem to have developed a special bonding from the moment I released him from his crate in the Delta Air Cargo parking lot at San Francisco International so this is an exciting journey!! And of course we have his famous ancestors’ pawsteps to try to fill!

Robbie is fun to train and is a funny and very entertaining young dog! He takes great pride in retrieving our newspaper from the paper tube and carrying it up to the house at the end of our group walks! At the ACC Supported Golden Gate Kennel Club show at the Cow Palace this last January 2013, Robbie won his puppy 6-9 classes both days and went Best Puppy on Sunday. At the Chief Solano Kennel Club show in April Robbie went Winners Dog from the 9-12 puppy class under Judge Tomas Gomez, for a 3 point major handled by Catherine. We are looking at the upcoming local shows for Robbie.

Stay tuned.............
